its direct contribution constituted 3.3% of the global GDP; and the total contribution of the sector amounted to 10.4%; amounting to 9.2 trillion US dollars. It is worth noting that the sector&#8217;s jobs represent 10.6% of all jobs (334 million jobs); and the value of global spending on leisure travel is estimated at about 2.37 trillion US dollars. We would like to note here that the sector is constantly growing to the point that it creates one in four new jobs worldwide. This was a brief overview of the global sector indicators<\/p>\r\n<p>As for the sector indicators in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, we will present them below:<\/p>\r\n<p>The total number of tourists arriving in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries amounted to 43.8 million tourists, with an annual decline rate of 0.3% over a period of 5 years.<br \/>If we assume the number of tourists coming to the GCC countries as a percentage, the UAE alone would have accounted for about 49.2%, followed by Saudi Arabia with 31.1%. As for the rest of the countries, the following figure shows the distribution of the number of tourists coming to the GCC countries:<\/p>\r\n<p>Spending by inbound tourists in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries recorded consecutive growth of 12.1%, reaching a total of $81.1 billion.<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>The UAE alone accounts for 47.3% of the total spending by inbound tourists in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.<\/li>\r\n<li>The total number of nights spent by tourists in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries reached 303.2 million nights. Saudi Arabia accounted for 57.4% of these nights.<\/li>\r\n<li>The total number of domestic tourists between the GCC countries amounted to about 12.6 million people.<\/li>\r\n<li>It is noted that intra-GCC tourism accounted for 28.7% of the total number of inbound tourists to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The value of the sector\u2019s contribution to global GDP amounted to approximately 5.81 trillion US dollars.
